Hello and welcome to my web page which will be focusing on the religious aspects of Oprah! For those of you who do not know, Oprah is a very famous American woman who is best known for her multi-award-winning talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show. She is said to be one of the most influential women in the world. 

My webpage is going to focus on Oprah Winfrey as a religion. It will discuss Oprah as a “god-like” figure in media. It will discuss Oprah as a religious icon. It will also focus on her similarities to the Christian god. I will draw on many different arguments to prove this point. I will focus on her similarities to the Christian God because of her power and influence. She is now one of the most powerful women in the world.

I will also discuss her strong belief in God and her Christian faith that she makes well known to the public and her fans. She is a strong promoter of faith and spirituality. I will give videos and examples from her show and website to demonstrate this. I will also discuss how Oprah has many different advisers that frequent her show and website to give talks, give advice and self-help. I will focus on Oprah’s similarity to Jesus and his disciples by comparing and giving examples of Oprah and her ‘disciples’ or advisers.

I will discuss the element of self-help/ self-improvement and spirituality on The Oprah Winfrey Show. I will compare it to the institution of the church and talk about the audience Oprah’s show is directed at. I will talk also discuss how the belief of miracles in the United States has risen dramatically since the Oprah Winfrey show and give various examples as to why and discuss her power and influence. I will draw on many different sources and examples to explain why Oprah Winfrey has become a religious icon, a “god-like” figure and why she has such a huge following.
